Shanmuganathan Engineering College upholds a set of classroom norms to maintain an orderly and disciplined environment, conducive to effective learning. Students are expected to adhere to the following guidelines during classroom sessions:
Classes are conducted between 9:15 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. Students are required to follow the class schedule diligently, ensuring they make the most of their academic day.
Students are expected to attend classes regularly and punctually. Being on time reflects discipline and respect for both the instructors and fellow students.
Students should be seated in the lecture halls at least 5 minutes before the commencement of the class. This practice ensures that sessions start on time without interruptions.
It is crucial for students to maintain perfect order and strict silence in lecture halls, drawing halls, laboratories, and workshops. This promotes an environment of focus and respect for the learning process.
Unnecessary movement from one bench or table to another should be avoided in classrooms, laboratories, and workshops. Movement outside the classroom during lectures should be minimal and for valid reasons only, to avoid disturbing the class.
Students must bring calculators daily, and laboratory coats, drawing instruments, and charts whenever required. Borrowing materials from other students or procuring them after arriving at college should be avoided. It is mandatory for students to bring observation notebooks to laboratory classes and submit records of experiments before the next lab session.
Students should remain within their own class and should not visit other classrooms for any reason during academic hours.
Writing on desks or damaging classroom furniture is strictly prohibited. Students are expected to respect and take care of the college property, maintaining a clean and orderly environment for everyone.
By following these norms, students contribute to a disciplined and productive academic atmosphere, enabling them to achieve their full potential.
