Orientation Program For First-Year Students
- An orientation program for first-year students was held August 21 (Thursday), at Shanmughanathan Engineering College, Arasampatti, Thirumayam.
- Dr. N.Vennila, the first-year coordinator, welcomed everyone who attended the event. Dr. Pichappa Manikandan, Correspondent, presided over the function and delivered a speech.Shri M. Pichappa,Director ( Admin.) and Shri M. Viswanathan,Secretary also addressed the gathering.Our College Principal Dr. KL.Muthuramu felicitated in this function.
- Students who had scored high marks in the 12th-Std public examination and joined the college were awarded certificates for a four-year tuition fee waiver.
- Dr. M.Varadharajan, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, introduced the special guest. Dr. Revathi Subbulakshmi, Vice-Principal of Madurai Senthamil College and a renowned debate speaker, was the special guest and delivered the keynote address. During her speech, she said
- "Rural students should not consider young-age poverty a curse. They should see it as a blessing. That poverty teaches us lessons, principles, and maturity in life. Do not be afraid of your parents' poverty. If you wish, you can drive away your family's poverty with your education. No one has achieved great things without trials. Do not develop an inferiority complex.
- Believe firmly that you are not inferior to anyone. With perseverance and practice, all your goals will be successful. This youth is a period full of dreams and celebrations. But be very careful during this time. There are many dangers here that can distract you. Don't fall into any of them. Choose good friends. Never become addicted to drugs. Make your parents' dreams a reality. Respect your teachers. Set goals in life and embark on your journey. Light will surely dawn in your life."
- Finally, Dr. P.Janaki, Associate Professor in the Civil Engineering Department, delivered the vote of thanks. Heads of all departments, professors, students, parents, and many others participated in the event.
