A self-confidence lecture for first-year students was held at Shanmuganathan Engineering College, Arasambatti, Tirumayam, on Friday, September 26.
Dr. N.Vennila, First-Year Coordinator of the college, welcomed the attendees to the event. The event was presided over by College Correspondent Dr. Pichappa Manikandan, and Principal Dr. KL. Muthuramu offered the felicitations.
The renowned motivational speaker, 'Sollin Selvar' Mr.M. Ragavendiran, participated as the Chief Guest and delivered the address.
During his speech, he stated:
"Today’s youth are losing their lives inside their mobile phones. Mobile phones are communication devices. There is nothing wrong with gaining knowledge through the internet connection they provide. However, wasting valuable life time in the name of mere entertainment cannot be allowed. Students must rise as a force within society and should never lose themselves in social media. We are speaking with strangers, without even knowing whether they are male or female. But we forget to have heart-to-heart conversations with our parents and relatives. Everyone must be grateful for the immense sacrifices and hard work of their parents. Show love towards them. They are to be worshipped throughout your life.
Plan everything you do and execute it. Anything that is planned properly never results in failure. Planning and hard work will always crown you with success." The event was attended by a large number of first-year students, professors, and others. Dr. Karuppiah, Professor of Tamil Department, concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
